An international Art Festival Featuring Expressions by Contemporary Artists, Craftspeople, and Artisans
(Kanazawa, Japan, September 10, 2025) – NPO Syuto Kanazawa will open the sixth edition of GO FOR KOGEI (Artistic Director: Akimoto Yuji) on September 13, 2025. Held across Kanazawa and Toyama—cities with a long-standing tradition of craftsmanship—the festival will run for 37 days until October 19. This year, GO FOR KOGEI welcomes 18 artists and groups from 15 cities in Japan and abroad, including 12 first-time participants.
For the sixth iteration, under the theme, “The Attributes of Kogei: How Can We Reframe Craft?” GO FOR KOGEI 2025 will present diverse practices born from the “craftsmanship attitude”—the way artists and artisans engage with materials and techniques—across sites in Kanazawa and Toyama, regions where craft has long been interwoven with daily life. Visitors will be invited to explore these works and experience them firsthand, offering a fresh opportunity to reflect on the role of craft and art in everyday life and society, as well as their potential for the future.
