We are happy to announce the fifth iteration of Go for Kogei, a celebration of craft in the Hokuriku region. Since its establishment in 2020, Go for Kogei has provocatively juxtaposed craft with the adjacent genres of contemporary art, art brut, and design, highlighting the field’s rich and multivarious forms of expression. Last year’s event consisted of an international symposium and an exhibition featuring works by 26 artists in venues along downtown Toyama’s Fugan Canal. Since its establishment, Go for Kogei has drawn a total of over 140,000 visitors.

This year, Go for Kogei will be held in two areas: the Iwase Area (Toyama, Toyama Prefecture) and the Higashiyama Area (Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture). Organized around the theme “Craft and Art: Philosophies for Life,” the event will present visitors with a new look at contemporary crafts through a range of installations and special programming set on the backdrop of Hokuriku, a region known for its many longstanding craft traditions.
