Takemata refers to his work as “handicraft production,” as he draws on the advantages of machines and hand labor to produce cutlery, tableware, and jewelry. Oniki is an architect and designer specializing in spatial design. His minimalistic spatial designs with elements of transparency have received much acclaim. Each with their own sense of style and artistry, the pair first collaborated in 2021, with Oniki designing portable lamps and Takemata producing them. For their collaboration this year, they are proposing a lifestyle incorporating metalware and will produce new furniture at Takemata’s viewing room Tayo in Higashiyama.
